Party ideas with wine and friends
Yes, it’s still Friendship Day for us. We just can’t get enough of it. And neither would you if it involves great food, super company and brilliant wine! While we’re still in this party mood, we have gone ahead and put together a list of ideas you could try at home. Use them straight, mix ‘em up, do whatever fits into your idea of fun. Take your pick from our ‘Party ideas with wine and friends’.
The starter party
This party’s great when you’ve got a mixed crowd of friends, and you need people to mix and mingle. As the name suggests, this one’s got a whole load of starters, and almost nothing else. Lay out platters of cheese, spicy Indian kebabs, croquettes, stuffed olives, etc. You could even set up a DIY bruschetta bar. The wines we’d recommend would be Rosa Rossa, Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. Just one tip – make sure there’s enough food as you won’t be serving a main course.
The fancy-shmansy dinner party
Sometimes it just feels nice to sit down and have a posh dinner party – with multiple courses (rather than eating out of takeaway boxes), free flowing conversation (instead of the idiot box jabbering away in the background) and a lot of glamour. To get started, pick your closest friends. Create a menu based on mutual likes. Then select your wines. We’d recommend 2 reds and 4 whites. Stick to classics like Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. And let the evening take its course.
The foodie party
This one’s strictly for those who love their food. Turn it into a potluck party and ask our friends to bring in their favourite foods and wines. The sheer variety will be drool-worthy! Just make sure that there are no overlaps, and you cover all courses. You could whip up one of the courses at home – like a main with grilled chicken perhaps. And serve a Big Banyan Merlot to go with it.
The dessert party
We also call this the ‘pajama party’. Have your girlfriends over and bring out the sinful, gooey goodies. Brownies, cream fills, tarts and pastries, fruity soufflés, ice creams with compotes – we can unfurl a whole list of yumminess for you. For those on a diet (don’t invite them unless you absolutely must) you could have a bowl of fresh cut fruits. Pair these desserts up with a Big Banyan Bellissima. And sink into a state of bliss!
We could go on! But we leave it to you to get creative with your party ideas. The next time you have friends over, take these tips and turn the evening into something wonderful!
