Bring out the yummies and dole out the drinks. It’s Diwali time! Put away the boring sherbets you after year, and try some of our funky, festive Sangrias. They’re dunked with fresh seasonal fruit, a generous dose of your favourite Big Banyan wine and lots of festive funk.
Ka-Boom Festive Sangria
You’ll need:
2 small apples (one red and one green) cored and sliced into small cubes
2 pears cored and sliced into small cubes
½ tsp of freshly ground cinnamon
1 pomegranate’s seeds
1 inch chunk of ginger, finely grated
2 cups Sprite
750 ml of Big Banyan Cabernet Sauvignon
How to make it:
1. Place ingredients in a big pitcher.
2. Add the wine. Top it with Spite. Refrigerate overnight.
3. Add a dash of Sprite before you serve and garnish with mint leaves.
Pataka Festive Sangria
You’ll need:
2 red chilli peppers sliced lengthwise (deseed it if you don’t want it too spicy)
375 ml of Big Banyan Chardonnay
2 oz of Vodka
2 oz of Orange extract
1 oz of freshly squeezed lime juice
1 oz of cranberry juice
Sprite for topping
How to make it:
1. In a pitcher, add the peppers and muddle them a bit
2. Then add ingredients, except the lime soda. Stir them well. Refrigerate overnight.
3. Top it up with Sprite just before serving.
